More specifically, Kim Nicolaou was born in Saint Paul, Nicosia, where he left at the age of 5 for London. Growing up he began to listen to the Beatles and George Martin’s Productions while studying Accounting. At the age of 14 he was already a music prodigy since he had already written his first songs, scripts for advertisements as well as short films such as “Hired Fired” sponsored by the British Film Institute (BFI) and various stage plays, which caused a sensation at his age. At the same time, he had already formed his first band, “Fresh Beat,” with which he sets the stage for publicly giving concerts in churches to prevent youths from drug abuse while the proceeds go to the churches. In 1972, along with the talented musician John Griffin, Kimstyle Teenage Revolution was created and as a duet they record the legendary single “The lady and the parrot / Why” in Greek. Puritan and Conservative Cypriot public believes that track is dangerous to youth’s morals, therefore it’s censored and prohibits its broadcasting. Despite all the measures, it becomes a Greek Rock anthem to everyone’s lips and is the song that triggered a series of bands inspired by Kimstyle TR. Concerts were given with his band (Less Bros on Bass, Kim on Guitar, Noel- Drums) and they became the top Band across the whole of Cyprus by an enthusiastic youth who had never witnessed or seen something so special. In 1975, he joined the band ‘Youngers’ formed by Takis Hadjipavlou, https://www.facebook.com/takis.hadjipavlou with whom he gave a series of concerts, mainly for social events, since the band needed good stage presence and perfect knowledge of English songs. In the period 1978-1979 a clothing store opened, which also became a pole of attraction for youth, as there was no equivalent and so innovative in Cyprus.
Early in 1980 he returned to London where he agreed a contract with producer Barry McLoud and founded the production company Kimbar Records, which was responsible for the artist’s releases. In 1981 he Produced the song “Ghetto Children” (Ellie Jay Records) for a band from Birmingham, Dessus and was immediately a hit. This is followed by the release of the album “You came to pass” and his concert support with the re-creation of Kimstyle TR (Roger, Gus Zalami-guitars, Chris Chrysafis- synthesizer, Louis Ioannidis Drums) with whom he tours successfully while he is interviewed by BBC’s famed rock DJ Legend Tommy Vance. In 1985 “Whistling Messiah ” was Produced for the Genre Hippy band, which reached the N.18 of the Swedish Top 20. A period of Soul searching followed until 1989, when he made the big decision to return to Cyprus permanently and became a radio producer in the 2nd RIK (CyBC) Program and also worked as a DJ at the famous Vip’s Club in Ayia Napa. In the following year he was a key figure in the creation of the 3rd Channel with Papadopoulos of SKY Greece which had instant success holding Cyprus’s Top Radio DJ slot till he left. Together with Alkis Sarris they founded the company Kimstyle Music, through which the recording, production and release of Theo’s album “Theo” takes place. Although, once again the sound and production are ahead of their time, unfortunately the company has not been able to stand on its feet. After that, he turned to the radio (Mega 88.4 FM), but he continues as a DJ in clubs in Ayia Napa and he also works as a sound producer on new releases like Bad Boyz.
He leaves for one more time for England where he operates a Fish ‘n’ Chips restaurant in Kent from 2001-2002, and with his return next year he creates a phenomenal P2P website LukeP2P.com (now closed) but develops a 1st of it’s kind Music/Social Platform with 24/7 Live Tv called https://www.kimnicolaou.com/kimstyletv-live/ and a personal Web outlet for promoting Unsigned Artists http://www.kimnicolaou.com/ Remarkable: Although he has already made an impressive track record in the field, Kim Nicolaou is an anxious person who is constantly offering something else in the field of music. In 2008, Christina Matsa’s “Come on in” song was much ahead of Lily Allen’s song “Not Fair” by one year, making this unique sound from alternative country guitars, which became an international success.
