Kim (Kyriacos) Nicolaou
Pioneer of Cyprus’s Rock Era • Producer • Broadcaster • DJ • Mentor to #UnsignedArtists
🎧 Verification of Truth
Testimony from Cyprus’s top DJ, Dennis Perry
Kim Nicolaou is one of the foundational figures in the history of popular music in Cyprus. His band Kimstyle Teenage Revolution helped launch the First Rock Era of Cyprus in the early 1970s. Their single The Lady & The Parrot / Why was censored by national broadcasters for its bold lyrics, yet inspired a wave of young musicians to form their own bands.
Born in Agios Pavlos, Nicosia, Kim moved to London at age five. As a teenager, he wrote original songs, created short films, and organized youth concerts. He later formed bands, ran a cultural hub in Cyprus, built labels in London, and recorded internationally. His work spans radio, television, DJ culture, and platform-building—always with a mission to spotlight unsigned talent.
Over the years, Kim has interviewed and collaborated with international artists including Black Box and Peter Andre, Boney M, bringing global voices to local airwaves and bridging cultural gaps through music.

🎧 Still Wired. Still Wild. Still Working.
Making an album? I’ve made and produced a few. It’s NOT easy. More than two people, and already there’s ‘conflict’. I love music and how it evolves, and I’d love to help aspiring artists—but not many listen. Still, I’m eager to LISTEN to what you got. Don’t keep it in a drawer. Let the world hear it. Get in touch and let’s see what happens. I’ve always done things differently. I do not agree with how so many social and music platforms take advantage of artists. They give you sweet talk, legal too—you pay, but in the end, you do all the donkey work. So let’s go ‘Donkey’ together.

🎚️ From Raw to Real: Studio Truths & Track Evolution
“Going into a studio thinking you know it all is the wrong attitude.”
From my first short film at age 14 to spinning records that made people move, I’ve worn every hat in the business—sometimes no hat at all. Being a DJ and radio presenter taught me what makes people get on the floor… and what makes them walk off. You don’t see the audience, but you feel them. They call. They request. They rate. And those ratings? I’ve got the receipts—even if I forgot to submit the page.
This section showcases the evolution of sound: original band recordings vs. studio-produced versions. It’s not just about mixing—it’s about mindset.
